Honorable Mention Artist: Jim Pearson

Statement:
The Small Toy series of digital photographs– with digitally drawn targets over each image– is enigmatic, yet playful. The images are water reflection fragments of boats and their rigging as they sat moored in a small harbor.

Bio:
Jim Pearson was born in 1946 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He received an MFA in Printmaking from Indiana University in 1979; where he studied with Rudy Pozzatti, and a BS in Art Education from Indiana University in 1970. Jim taught drawing and printmaking at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana for 27 years. He retired in May of 2006. He has shown his photographs, photo montage prints, drawings, intaglio prints and paintings in many national and international group exhibitions where he has received several awards. Recently Pearson has exhibited at Art Space Gallery in Richmond, Virginia; Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio; Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana; The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts; Appalachian State University, Boon, North Carolina; Barrett Art Center, Poughkeepsie, New York; Nicolet College, Rhinelander, Wisconsin; The Berkley Arts Council, Martinsburg, West Virginia and the Northwest Art Center, Minot, North Dakota. Jim is in many public and private collections. He was also awarded a Ford Foundation Grant for creative research in printmaking and painting.
