Mauro Restiffe was born in 1970 and lives and works in Sao Paulo, Brazil and New York City. He studied film in Brazil and photography at the International Center of Photography in '94/95. He was a Visiting Scholar at New York Unviersity in 2001-2003, and has been the recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Biennial Award and the Rema Hort Mann Art Grant, both in 2001. He has had solo shows at Galeria Casa Triangulo, Sao Paulo, in '02. '05, and '07; Galeria Laura Marsiaj, Rio de Janeiro, '06; Henry Urbach Gallery, New York, '02; Centro Cultural, Sao Paulo, 01; Espacio Cultural Sergio Porto, Rio de Janeiro, '00; and Galeria Thomas Cohn, Sao Paulo, '00. In 2006 he was included in the Taipei Biennial and the 27th Bienal de Sao Paulo. He is in the collections of the Centro de Arte Contemporânea de Inhotim, Inhotim, Brasil; Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea, Santiago de Compostela, Spain; Deutsche Bank, New York; Fundación Arco, Madrid, Spain; Museu de Arte Moderna, São Paulo, Brasil; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and the Tate Gallery, London.
