Carissa Pelleteri

Carissa Pelleteri is born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Her photography reflects a fond nostalgia, wherein, the past nurtures the present. Partially self–taught along with 2 years in The Fashion Institute of Technology photography program, Carissa has been fully immersed in both commercial and fine art mediums. During the mid–eighties Carissa, first began to explore the ephemeral nature of memory and ways in which to document her surroundings. In the beginning, her subjects were limited to dear friends, classmates, and family, given this started as a childhood compulsion at age 10. For over a decade she has been expanding her oeuvre to include a nuanced style of location and studio work.

Carissa works as a commercial and editorial photographer and is also now focusing on her fine art work. She has been published in BlackBook, Bust, Time Out NY, Giant, Trace, Lodown and many more. Clients include: Simon and Schuster, Random House and Kill Rock Stars. She has been a part of multiple group shows exhibited in New York City and abroad. They include: The Camera Club of New York, Fuse Gallery, Deitch Projects, D‘Amelio Terras and Agnes B Gallery, Paris. Carissa‘s work is also a part of Photography Collections, including collector Joe Baio of The Aperture Foundation.
